Personal Health
Not one of us is the same. The blue print is in our genes; therefore how can ‘one size fits all’ work? It doesn’t.
Nutrition is patient specific, and so is dietary advice at Family Nutrition.
On enquiring, the patient is directed to complete a Nutritional Programme Questionnaire and a 7 Day Diet Diary. Added to this, there may be another, or several other questionnaires specific to the health issue that directed the patient to seek help.
Once completed, the documents are returned, an appointment is made and a consultation takes place. These can be in the clinic, via Skype or on the phone.
The initial consultation lasts generally about an hour and a half. Patients are encouraged to discuss their health situations as fully as possible and ask as many questions as they wish. This in turn prompts further questions and perhaps a further discussion.
Follow up consultation can also occur as and when the patient requests. Often patients return after several years for a refresher.
Health symptoms discussed, dietary advice is presented, and the patient leaves with information and advice.
Often the health issue is not so straight forward and biomedical laboratory investigation is needed to confirm or even deny a health problem that needs attention. Lab tests are not compulsory by any means, but they can be useful in taking out any quest work.
Are supplements recommended?
They certainly can be but not necessarily so. If the new diet is adhered to and there are no deficiencies identified by lab testing then there is not the need for supplementation. That word Supplementation must be recognised as referring to adding nutrients that are necessary to the existing diet. Ideally, and as Nature intended, the diet should supply all the nutrients that the body needs and one must never solely rely on Supplements for good health.
